"Outstanding in his field..."
Sterling Finlay is a bass player, songwriter, harmony vocalist and, when the mood strikes, a renaissance man. His session work and live performances have been hailed by critics. He has performed with more Texas artists than you can shake a drumstick at, and has many stories to tell.
Sterling has a passion for the solid, hard driving presence of a good bass line, and has been playing music and writing songs most of his life. Even in his high school marching band, he created a marching bass rig with a car battery and a dolly, that could be used in halftime shows and parades.
A child of nature, he grew up on a ranch on the San Marcos River, and spent much of his youth wandering through pastures and along river banks, reading and writing. He has stumbled a few times along the way, but has found his way back on track with the love of self, family and friends. Today, his faith is as strong as his bass line. Rock solid.
